Kerala chillie chicken

There should have been a great relation between the communist state of Kerala & the communist nation China ; as can be seen from the Malayalam names used for a few things  like Wok which is known as "Cheena Chatti" & Fishing Net known as "Cheena vala"...
( Rightly pointed out in the recent Malayalam Blockbuster "Arabikadha")

Whenever I make Kerala chillie chicken I get the same feeling, as you can see that some of the main ingredients are from the Chinese cuisine & yet this dish is so popular in Kerala known as the Kerala chillie chicken...

It used to be one of my favorites during our family outings in those childhood days...When I was in Kerala I never had to try this recipe as it so easily available anywhere you go out...But now that I am far away from those tastes, I have gained the expertise to make them at home with so much of ease...[ Recipe adapted from here ]

Here is the tasty chillie chicken recipe to try out for one of your special dinner days!!!!!!!

  5. Now add the sliced onions and salt. Saute this till the onions turn brown and soft.
  6. Now add the capsicum and saute for another few minutes.
  7. Add the spring onions once the capsicums are soft and reduce the heat.
  8. Now add the red chilly powder, tomato sauce, hot and sweet red chillie sauce, soya sauce and pepper powder. Stir this for a minute.
  9. Finally add the fried chicken pieces and mix well so that the gravy is coated on the  pieces. Stir for another few minutes before removing from the heat.
The Chillie chicken is ready to go the table...It makes a great combination Kerala Paratta /  fried rice...
